the last life I was Italian living in italy and I had 13 children all who lived. I lived a life of drudgery and my husband was cruel. He said I also wanted to travel very badly but my sitution would not allow that to happen. He said I was basically an unhappy slave.

Miami-Dade police shocked a 6-year-old boy with a 50,000-volt stun gun to keep him from hurting himself with a piece of glass he was waving around in a school office, officials confirmed Thursday.

Police say they followed their Taser guidelines, the child wasn't injured by the shock and he might have hurt himself seriously if they hadn't shocked him.

But the incident, which occurred Oct. 20 at Kelsey Pharr Elementary in Brownsville, has child advocates and experts shaking their heads in disbelief.

''It just sounds excessive to me to Taser gun a 6-year-old when everyone else around there were adults,'' said retired Broward County Juvenile Judge Frank Orlando, who runs a youth-law clinic at Nova Southeastern University. ``They couldn't subdue a 6-year-old? Must have been a pretty big kid.''

A non-profit music advocacy group is offering a $100,000 reward to anyone with evidence of voting fraud that could change the outcome of the presidential race, RAW STORY has learned.

The group, Justice Through Music, said that one of their major donors from Ohio had agreed to front the money for the award. Ohio was the battleground state that decided the 2004 election.

Student suspended for handstands, cartwheels

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Cartwheels and handstands have gotten an 11-year-old girl temporarily bounced out of her Los Angeles-area school.

Deirdre Faegre was suspended for a week after repeatedly disobeying school officials who told her not to perform gymnastic stunts during lunchtime.

"Our first concern is the safety of all children," San Jose-Edison Academy Principal Denise Patton told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Patton said Deirdre could accidentally strike another student, or injure herself, and other children could get hurt trying to imitate Deirdre, who has been doing gymnastics for five years.

Deirdre's father, Leland Faegre, said it was absurd to suspend his daughter for doing gymnastics when students were allowed to play basketball and other sports.

"Contact sports, apparently, are fine. But this one is so dangerous it requires the cartwheel cops," Faegre said.

Her supporters are exicted and supporting her count and recount efforts fanatically. Should she quit and "take it like a man" as some on this blog would suggest? Or, should she ride it out to the pleasure of her supporters. Oh, at noon today, the difference has narrowed to 600 and the City of Syracuse is still to be counted.

When The Tigers Broke Free

It was just before dawn
One miserable morning in black 'forty four.
When the forward commander
Was told to sit tight
When he asked that his men be withdrawn.
And the Generals gave thanks
As the other ranks held back
The enemy tanks for a while.
And the Anzio bridgehead
Was held for the price
Of a few hundred ordinary lives.

And old King George
Sent Mother a note
When he heard that father was gone.
It was, I recall,
In the form of a scroll,
With gold leaf and all.
And I found it one day
In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away.
And my eyes still grow damp to remember
His Majesty signed
With his own rubber stamp.

A scifi story I read awhile back had mention of time and consciousness that was fascinating.

Time is static, our perception is that it is dynamic due to consciousness. When we sleep, consciousness is detaches and our minds can travel freely. The subsconsious acts as a barrier. Sometimes the barrier isn't as effective and snippets get through. Explains precognition and past lives.

In it, the guy's subconscious barrier broke to the point where he was a 13 year old boy. He was then a 35 year old (with memories and future known clearly) in the 13 yo body.

From: Davids Medienkritik

Loser’s Anger / Der Zorn der Verlierer
(Deutsche Version am Ende des Beitrags)

Not an opinion you would expect in the German media...

Die Welt:

The United Front of Enlightened Euro-American Intellectuals clearly understood the situation soon after the Bush-Republicans’ landslide victory: the USA is lost forever to the grips of a war mongering, homophobic, anti-feminist, fundamentalist religious reactionaries. They thought they could see, in the reelected administration’s huge majority, a reversal to medieval times, a triumph of the worst of redneck culture which harvested death threats in even the serious British press. The author Jonathan Franzen, writing in Die Welt, used bizarre analogies to show how he was reminded of the American Civil War, which cost hundreds of thousands their lives, and 15 writers took two pages of the Süddeutsche Zeitung to lament the “collective fiasco,” the “paranoid” American voters, and the “idiots” who would rule the world from Washington for four more years. Stewart O'Nan summed it up for all of them with, “what a shitty day.”

Perhaps, in the wake of these manically overwrought analyses, we can most clearly see why the anti-Bush camp was condemned to lose so decisively. Because listening to this holier-than-thou and condescending blather that totally ignores reality is simply unbearable after a while. That which is called extremism here is basically nothing more than a triumph of realism amongst a broad majority of the population. The Americans trust Bush because he acts in accordance with several tried and proven traditions of realpolitik and because he behaves just as other sensible people in similar situations would behave.

(Hat tip Andreas)

Canada: Martin: We Make Our Own Laws
by Sean Gordon, National Post,, (11 Nov 2004) Vancouver Sun Canada

PM Brushes Aside U.S. Warning About Pot Bill

OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Paul Martin is brushing aside warnings from U.S. Ambassador Paul Cellucci that a border crackdown will result if Canada decriminalizes marijuana, saying simply that Canada will pass laws as it sees fit.

Asked what he made of Cellucci's prediction that relaxed marijuana laws in Canada will worsen the perennial congestion at border crossings with the U.S., Martin was unequivocal.

"Firstly, the legislation is before the House of Commons, then the parliamentary committee will have its discussions on all the various points, and we'll wait to see the legislation that comes from that. But Canada will make its own laws, pure and simple," Martin said.

Business groups have raised the alarm over the possible tie-ups resulting from more liberal marijuana laws in Canada, saying that even the current border morass costs Canadian businesses billions of dollars annually. It's estimated that $1.2 billion in goods and services travel across the border each day.

The opposition Conservatives, who insist the draft legislation is deeply flawed, renewed calls to shelve the bill until trade disputes with the Bush administration over beef and softwood lumber exports end.

The draft legislation calls for fines of $150 for adults -- and $100 for minors -- who are caught in possession of up to 15 grams of marijuana.

I was just listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio. He is always so positive and optimistic. He is really content with the way the election has worked out. And as you know he has the number one most listened to show in radio.

I was also watching Fox News this morning. They also seemed quite content with the direction of the country. Did you know they had the number one most watched News Channel on cable? It's true, Fox News dominates the cable industry!

I was watching the president on TV with Tony Blair this morning. You just have to love those guys the way they've brought democracy to the world. And with Arafat pushing up daisies the Palestinians have to shit or get off the pot. Do they want freedom and democracy, or death? It's their choice either way!

I was watching the Senate on C-SPAN. Poor Tom Daschle, I guess it was just his turn to lose! Of course you've got to be happy with the seats that were picked up by the Republicans. They now have the power to crack down on those democratic filibusters. Ya gotta love that!

And don't forget about the House of Representatives. Like the president they represent the will of the people. You have to love the way the country is moving to the right. Even through the Bill Clinton years the country was moving to the right. Bill Clinton was swept from the left to the right by the will of the people. And now the Republicans have a bigger majority than ever. Ya gotta love that!

God, I love this country!

US: Drug-Sniffing Dogs Debated
by Stephen Henderson, The Washington Post contributed to this report, (11 Nov 2004) Sun News United States

Searches Violate Privacy Rights, Lawyer In Illinois Case Says

WASHINGTON - An hour of debate at the Supreme Court on Wednesday about the scope and limits of the Fourth Amendment and personal privacy boiled down to a five-word question: Is a sniff a search?

Roy Caballes said it is, especially when police stop you for speeding, then have a canine unit sniff around your car for drugs. In Caballes' case, the dog found $256,000 worth of marijuana in the trunk. Police arrested Caballes, and he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Caballes' lawyer told the high court Wednesday that the traffic stop did not give Illinois state troopers probable cause to search Caballes' car for drugs, so the dog's sharp nose was an infringement on Caballes' privacy rights.

Illinois officials, backed by the Justice Department, told the justices that a sniffing dog is not a search, at least not as far as the Constitution is concerned. It is a reasonable investigative tool, they said, no different from the trooper's eyes or nose. Moreover, Caballes has no right of privacy when it comes to contraband, the officials said.

"Dog sniffs are unique in that they only reveal the presence or absence of contraband," Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan told the justices. "And there's no privacy right for drugs."

The case, one in a long line of search-and-seizure issues to reach the high court, allows the justices to continue refining the lines between personal liberty and police authority.

The court generally has taken a broad view of these matters and given police a good bit of leeway to conduct reasonable investigations.

The justices have allowed police executing search warrants to kick in a door after knocking and waiting 15 seconds.

They also have said authorities have the right to arrest all the occupants of a car where drugs are found to determine whose they are.

Heh...

At the United Way in a fairly small town a volunteer worker
noticed that the most successful lawyer in the whole town
hadn't made a contribution. This guy was making about
$600,000 a year so the volunteer thought, "Why not call
him up?" He calls up the lawyer.

"Sir, according to our research you haven't made a contri-
bution to the United Way, would you like to do so?"

The lawyer responds, "A contribution? Does your research
show that I have an invalid mother who requires expensive
surgery once a year just to stay alive?"

The worker is feeling a bit embarrassed and says, "Well,
no sir, I'm..."

"Does your research show that my sister's husband was
killed in a car accident? She has three kids and no means
of support!"

The worker is feeling quite embarrassed at this point.
"I'm terribly sorry..."

"Does your research show that my brother broke his neck on
the job and now requires a full time nurse to have any kind
of normal life?"

The worker is completely humiliated at this point. "I am
sorry sir, please forgive me..."

"The gall of you people! I don't give them anything, so why
should I give it to you!"

New insurgency confronts US forces

Kurds come under attack as rebels rampage in city

Rory McCarthy in Baghdad and Michael Howard in Sulaymaniyah
Friday November 12, 2004
The Guardian

US troops were drawn into a new offensive in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul yesterday to tackle a tide of insurgency unchecked by the military assault on Falluja.
In Baghdad at least 17 Iraqis were killed in a suicide car bombing as gunmen set up checkpoints on roads in the west of the capital and fought battles with US troops.

Rebels also took to the streets of the northern town of Baiji, home to Iraq's main refinery, clashing with security forces.

The violence suggests the four-day operation in Falluja may have cleared out the most important insurgent stronghold in Iraq, but has done little to curb the burgeoning militant movement.

For two days insurgents have defied a curfew to rampage through Mosul, attacking or setting fire to at least seven police stations as well as government buildings.

Masked gunmen stole bullet-proof jackets and Kalashnikov rifles from police stations and were roaming the city centre yesterday setting fire to police cars and taking control of bridges. The five bridges over the Tigris were later closed to civilian traffic.

At one stage a group tried to storm an office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, one of the two major Kurdish parties, and fought gunbattles with Kurdish guards. Mosul's television channel went off air for an hour and the US military admitted the Iraqi police were unable to handle the crisis. At least five Iraqi national guardsmen and a civilian have been killed and a dozen injured.

When is enough, enough?

Posted by: Dr. Zimmerman Robert at November 12, 2004 01:04 PM

It sure is not easy to find ways to support the troops. If you live near a militiary community you will find a vounteer center that provides services for the kids in the military. Many of them need help, since most are living on food stamps, in poor housing, with poverty level pay.

And don't be shy. In Watertown, NY our volunteer center is filled with bleeding heart libs like myself. The conserves in the meantime are showing their support by purchasing magnetic flags and ribbons and blowing the heads off the local deer?

Iraqi Gov't Warns Media About Coverage

Thursday November 11, 2004 11:01 PM

AP Photo NY181

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - The Iraqi government warned news organizations Thursday to distinguish between insurgents and ordinary civilians in coverage of the fighting in Fallujah and to promote the leadership's position or face unspecified action.

The warning came in a statement sent to news organizations by Iraq's Media High Commission, which cited the 60-day state of emergency declared Sunday on the eve of the offensive in Fallujah.

``You must be precise and objective in handling news and information,'' the statement said.

It stressed the necessity of differentiating between ``innocent citizens of Fallujah who are not targeted by the military operations and between the terrorist groups who infiltrated the city and took its people hostage under the pretext of resistance and jihad.''

It also told news organizations to tell their correspondents ``to be credible and precise'' and not to ``add patriotic descriptions to groups of killers and criminals.''

Finally, the commission told news organizations to provide space to explain ``the government position, expressing the ambition of most of the Iraqi people'' and underscore that ``these military operations did not come about until all peaceful means were attempted'' to avoid violence.

It said that failure to follow the instructions will require authorities to ``take all necessary measures to safeguard the supreme interest of the homeland.'' The statement did not provide further details.

Russia to Reduce Troops in Chechnya

By SERGEI VENYAVSKY, Associated Press Writer

ROSTOV-ON-DON, Russia - The Russian military will cut its deployment in Chechnya (news - web sites) by about 1,000 troops and stop using conscripts in the war against separatist rebels next year, Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Friday.

The announcement, however, did not appear to indicate that Russia believes it is gaining an advantage over the guerrillas it has been battling for more than five years. Ivanov said the 42nd Motorized Division that is the military's main unit in Chechnya "will stay there forever."

Ivanov, who made the statements during an inspection trip in Rostov-on-Don, headquarters for the military's southern region, did not give an overall figure for the troop presence in Chechnya.

But Russian officials this year said there were about 70,000 armed forces in Chechnya, including from the army, the Interior Ministry and the Federal Security Service, the main successor to the Soviet KGB. In addition, Chechnya has a large presidential security service that conducts operations against rebels and is widely alleged to abduct and abuse civilians.

*sniff* thisn the saddest news im read in a long time:

CHILHOWIE, Va. - Fourteen cars of an 83-car Norfolk Southern train derailed near an industrial park, leaving the area smelling like a brewery Thursday.

About 20,000 gallons of beer leaked from three cars of the Roanoke-bound train, said railway spokesman Robin Chapman.

No one was injured when the cars skipped the tracks about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Chapman said.

Investigating officers said the leak did not contaminate any nearby water sources nor affect any highways.

"Everything was contained away from the creek," said Jack Tolbert Jr. of the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

Authorities were investigating the cause of the derailment. All trains scheduled to use the tracks through Chilhowie were held until they were cleared Thursday evening.

MIAMI, Oct. 10 -- John F. Kerry used a Baptist pulpit Sunday to speak of eternal life and denounce President Bush, as Jesse L. Jackson and Al Sharpton joined him for a home-stretch push to energize African American Floridians who felt disenfranchised in 2000....
The Massachusetts Democrat, who has battled apathy about his presidential candidacy in the black community, prayed, tapped along to rollicking gospel tunes and held up a pocket Bible in a church where he was repeatedly called "the next president" and even "president."...
Kerry became more explicitly political, and the congregation roared its approval. "In the 1990s under Bill Clinton, we lifted more people out poverty," he said. "This president has taken that $5.6 trillion surplus and turned it into the biggest deficits in American history. . . . These folks want to take Americans backward and cut overtime pay. Not in my America. . . . These people talk about values?"

Congregants waved fans emblazoned "People of Faith for Kerry-Edwards." Kerry smiled after former U.S. representative Carrie Meek (D-Fla.) said he is "fighting against liars and demons."

Kerry, who has compared Bush to those in the Bible story who ignored the wounded man before the Good Samaritan helped him, joked about the risk of being upstaged by Jackson and Sharpton. He said he didn't mind because "God's speaking here today, and we're going to listen."

The minister, the Rev. Gaston E. Smith, endorsed Kerry, saying, "To bring our country out of despair, despondency and disgust, God has a John Kerry."

Rumsfeld: El Salvador Can Be Iraq Model

By JOHN J. LUMPKIN, Associated Press Writer

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador - Iraq (news - web sites) can learn from the recent history of El Salvador (news - web sites), a country wracked by civil war that has developed into a stable democracy and close U.S. ally, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Thursday.

Rumsfeld, speaking at the U.S. Embassy here, thanked the Salvadorans for supplying troops for U.S. operations in Iraq. El Salvador, with about 370 soldiers in the only other country in the Western Hemisphere that currently has troops there.

"We are deeply in your debt," Rumsfeld said during a Veterans Day ceremony honoring U.S. and Salvadoran soldiers. He held up El Salvador as "a nation that understands well the human struggle for liberty and democracy."

From 1979 to 1992, El Salvador suffered a bloody civil war with leftist guerillas that left 75,000 dead in this nation of 6.5 million, where half live in poverty.

"The fight is not easy. It never is. It requires patience. And it has costs," Rumsfeld said before laying a wreath on a monument remembering U.S. citizens, including 20 U.S. military personnel, who were killed in the civil war.

Army Blackhawk Helicopter Shot Down

Friday November 12, 2004 4:01 PM

NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq (AP) - A U.S. Army helicopter was shot down Friday north of Baghdad, and its three crew members were wounded, the U.S military said.

The UH-60 Black Hawk was hit by anti-aircraft fire in Taji, 12 miles north of the capital, the military said.

Three of the four crew members were injured in the attack, but are expected to recover, the U.S. military said. The crew was rescued and the helicopter was recovered.

This was the third time a U.S. helicopter was shot down this week.

On Thursday, two U.S. Marine helicopters were downed by rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in separate incidents near Fallujah.

The crews of the two-man Super Cobra helicopters were forced to make hard landings, the military said. One of the four pilots was slightly injured and other helicopters rescued the crew members from the area, the military said.

Dutch to Withdraw Troops from Iraq in March

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The Dutch cabinet has decided to bring home the 1,350 Dutch troops in Iraq (news - web sites) in March next year, confirming a decision first made in June, the Dutch news agency ANP cited Defense Minister Henk Kamp as saying on Friday.

The Netherlands first sent troops to Iraq in August 2003 and won parliamentary approval this summer to extend their stay until March 2005.

Iraq's interim administration wants to hold elections in January despite mounting violence, and the Netherlands has come under increasing U.S. and British pressure to keep its troops there after March.

Foreign Minister Bernard Bot recently suggested that might be possible in unforeseeable circumstances, but Kamp said the cabinet had ruled that out.

The Netherlands is a strong ally of the United States, but public opinion is divided on its mission in Iraq. Two Dutch soldiers have died in Iraq, one in May and one in August.

The Dutch troops are based at Samawa in southern Iraq with orders to help with reconstruction and provide security and stability in a region where Japan has sent 550 non-combat troops to help rebuild the country.

Something really clicks on MRR with Professor Cole and you're not going to see or hear anything like it elsewhere. Hiding her body issues under oversized jeans and white T-shirt, and with a glint in her eye, Garofalo told tales of herniated discs and a severed finger, suffered during a period when her drinking spiralled while filming in London. And her ambivalent confessionals hit heights of self-deprecating hilarity worthy of the week's earlier Hummingbird feature, Joan Rivers -- albeit with a hipper point of view and brainier references.

What's it mean that the big cities and college towns of America all voted blue?

By Mark Morford, SF Gate Columnist
Friday, November 12, 2004

And what's so frighteningly cute in a slit-your-karmic-wrists sort of way about this whole election thing is how astoundingly vicious and ingrained and apparent the Great American Culture War has become, has evolved, has mutated and grown and smiled and is right now eating us alive and belching out a great cloud of regressive, conformist exhaust.

The stats bear it out. One look at this astounding 3-D map used by CBS News the day after the election (a.k.a.: "Black Wednesday") and you can see how the various cities and towns of America voted and you sit there and go oh my freaking God wouldja look at that, it's not blue state versus red state after all, but more like blue urban versus red rural, skyscraper versus church house, Chez Panisse versus Denny's.

This is Your Story - The Progressive Story of America. Pass It On.

by Bill Moyers

Ideas have power as long as they are not frozen in doctrine. But ideas need legs. The eight-hour day, the minimum wage, the conservation of natural resources and the protection of our air, water, and land, women's rights and civil rights, free trade unions, Social Security and a civil service based on merit all these were launched as citizen's movements and won the endorsement of the political class only after long struggles and in the face of bitter opposition and sneering attacks. It's just a fact: Democracy doesn't work without citizen activism and participation, starting at the community. Trickle down politics doesn't work much better than trickle down economics. It's also a fact that civilization happens because we don't leave things to other people. What's right and good doesn't come naturally. You have to stand up and fight for it as if the cause depends on you, because it does. Allow yourself that conceit - to believe that the flame of democracy will never go out as long as there's one candle in your hand.

So go for it. Never mind the odds. Remember what the progressives faced. Karl Rove isn't tougher than Mark Hanna was in his time and a hundred years from now some historian will be wondering how it was that Norquist and Company got away with it as long as they did how they waged war almost unopposed on the infrastructure of social justice, on the arrangements that make life fair, on the mutual rights and responsibilities that offer opportunity, civil liberties, and a decent standard of living to the least among us.

The Connection
How al Qaeda's Collaboration with Saddam Hussein Has Endangered America

by Stephen F. Hayes

In the wake of 9/11 no one knew when the next attack would come, or where it would come from. America's enemies seemed gathered on all sides, and for several nerve-racking months, we lived in fear that the perpetrators might be plotting another action or, worse, that our most dangerous enemies -- al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein's murderous regime in Iraq -- could be banding together against us.

The Bush administration and CIA director George Tenet warned against complacency and pointed to growing indications that al Qaeda and Iraq were in league. But their case was undercut by unnamed intelligence officials, skeptical politicians, and a compliant media. So America relaxed. A comforting consensus settled in: Osama bin Laden was an impassioned fundamentalist, Saddam a secular autocrat. The two would never, could never, work together. ABC News reported that there was no connection between them, and the New York Times said so too, and pretty soon just about everyone agreed.

Just about everyone was wrong.

In The Connection, Stephen Hayes draws on CIA debriefings, top-secret memos from our national intelligence agencies, and interviews with Iraqi military leaders and Washington insiders to demonstrate that Saddam and bin Laden not only could work together, they did -- a curious relationship that stretches back more than a decade and may include collaboration on terrorist acts, chemical-weapons training, and sheltering some of the world's most wanted radicals.

Stephen Hayes's bombshell Weekly Standard piece on this topic was cited by Vice President Cheney as the "best source of information" about the Saddam-al Qaeda connections. Now Hayes delves even deeper, exposing the inner workings of America's deadliest opponents and providing a clear-eyed corrective to reams of underreported, politicized, and just plain wrong information.

The Connection is both a gripping snapshot of the War on Terror and a case study in how bureaucratic assumptions and media arrogance can put us all at risk.

Yes indeed, the Culture War has now penetrated the highest corridors of power, and the red tide has stormed in, taken control, entrenched itself, demanded regression and rollbacks and a return to old-fashioned American values, the ones that demand you read the Bible and fear foreigners and keep your damn legs closed and your mouth shut and quit asking so many prickly questions that make the president blink all confused-like.

Yessir, I guess they showed those goddamn liberals. Guess they showed those damn college boys who's boss. Hey, I got an idea! Instead of engaging idiotic, simpleton trolls, why don't you all post something that will help to get this country back?

Didn't you all learn anything from this election? Don't any of you wonder how much more effective we all would have been working that one more e-mail list, making one more call, distributing one more story?

The trolls are a CANCER. They have NO redeeming value, and don't give me the bullshit that it helps you argue in the real world. The real world has articulate people of differing views with positions they care about. None of this applies to these troll fuckers. They are here to bug YOU. They don't care what they say, just as long as they can keep you from doing the work that needs to be done and keep you focused on their stupid posts.

It comes down to this-if you engage them, you are helping them break down the Progressive movement with little to no effort. Fight as hard for us as they would on freerepublic.com.

If a troll posts something you know he pulled out of his ass, IGNORE HIM. He posts again, IGNORE HIM. He cries about his rights of free speech being violated, just remember you don't have to talk to everyone that comes up to you on the street-you can move away from the idiots there, and you can IGNORE THEM here.

Sometimes I get really pissed off at how easy is is for these unintelligent assholes to get the bright, articulate people here to slither down to their level.

Please don't do it, you all are smarter than that.

Thursday, November 11 at 2pm (PST) on KPFK 90.7fm Los Angeles, 98.7 in Santa Barbara, Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb declared that in all likelihood he would demand a recount of all the votes in the Presidential election in the state of Ohio. Since David Cobb's name appeared on the Ohio ballot, it is his legal right to ask for a statewide recount.

Rapper beats puppy on TV

11/11/2004 - 13:56:50

Public Enemy star Flavor Flav has incurred the wrath of animal lovers across America after beating a puppy on VH1 reality show The Surreal Life.

The gold-toothed rapper, real name William Drayton, decided to show his housemates on the show how to discipline a dog when the house puppy urinated on the floor.

His celebrity pals reeled in horror as he hit the dog on the nose with a rolled up newspaper, and now he could face legal action from a Hollywood animal rights group.

A spokesman for Last Chance For Animals says: "It sends out a bad message to people out there that this is the way you discipline a dog - by smacking him on the face.

"We will investigate and we'll file charges against this Flavor Flav."

If found guilty of a cruelty misdemeanour, the rapper could face a year in jail.

Meanwhile, VH1 bosses have been inundated with complaints from fans of the show who were upset by Flav's dog-beating.

RE-CAGING THE LIZARDS

Kerry took a dive in the election race
now i've got egg on my face
bushpussy cheated like we knew he would
our pseudo-democracy appears to be gone for good

i got drawn in, i even cared
kerry quit, didn't care if the race was declared
both were cousins, and were skull and bones
america collapses, world calls in its loans

the grand result of a well thought out plan
manipulate the masses, they all pay the Man
one world currency, one world police
micro-chipped population, all freedoms cease

manipulate the dummies, divide and rule
dumb down the masses, don't fund the schools
propaganda is the news and up is down
democracy's in the past, bunnypants wears the crown

history repeats itself, the masses never learn
salem witch trials are coming back, they want everyone to burn
the crooks and lizards rule us all by fear
we evolve right past them as they fight to split the spoils
and then we're in the clear

george bushpussy couldn't finish hitler's poop
c'mere judith miller, i've got your scoop
half-wits, nitwits, dipshits and dumb twits
lizards, politicians and bankers can eat shit

we're not afraid, we poop out our fear
the love vibration scares them just like a mirror
they're on the wrong side of history, it's the evolution of the soul
these scum can't touch us now even with a ten foot pole

good riddance lizards, and cRapture heads
go shape-shift back to your cages before your skin all sheds
the truth comes out via the internets
you rule us no more, you become our pets.

LOVE reduces fear to nothing. LOVE is a stronger vibration. This is an actual fact.
Hate is merely fear of the unknown. Therefore, with fear eliminated, hate vanishes.

LOL!

Strange, I like Joe Conason, find his writing excellent, appreciate his reasoning, and love the sound of his voice, but it does have a soporific effect on me.

I think folks are too hard on Franken. He is more moderate than most of the hosts on AAR, but I think we need some "gateway" liberals. Some folks after listening to Fox and Rush for years need to be eased into facts and different ways of thinking. Franken's not my cup of tea at all, but I'm very glad he has a radio show.

also this item from daily kos:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/11/10/1172/9052

Dr. Avi Rubin is currently Professor of Computer Science at John Hopkins University. He "accidently"got his hands on a copy of the Diebold software program--Diebold's source code--which runs their e-voting machines.
Dr. Rubin's students pored over 48,609 lines of code that make up this software. One line in partictular stood out over all the rest:

#defineDESKEY((des_KEY8F2654hd4"

All commercial programs have provisions to be encrypted so as to protect them from having their contents read or changed by anyone not having the key..The line that staggered the Hopkin's team was that the method used to encrypt the Diebold machines was a method called Digital Encryption Standard (DES), a code that was broken in 1997 and is NO LONGER USED by anyone to secure prograns.F2654hd4 was the key to the encryption. Moreover, because the KEY was IN the source code, all Diebold machines would respond to the same key. Unlock one, you have then ALL unlocked.

I can't believe there is a person alive who wouldn't understand the reason this was allowed to happen. This wasen't a mistake by any stretch of the imagination. This was a fixed election, plain and simple.

This second coup d'etat is either stopped now or America ceases to be.

According to the exit polls Kerry was showing a 1% popular vote margin over Bush. But more importantly he was shown leading by a nose in Florida and a solid 4% in Ohio. Because of the way the Electoral College system works this meant that he had almost certainly won.

The polls have significant sized samples in all states and ask actual voters who they actually voted for and so are traditionally very accurate.

In 2004 just like in 2000 Fox news called Ohio to Bush before the counting had finished.

Study of Revenge
The First World Trade Center Attack and Saddam Hussein's War against America
By Laurie Mylroie

AEI Press (Washington)

Publication Date: January 2001
Hardcover
ISBN: 0844741698
Price: $ 24.95

The destruction of the twin towers of the World Trade Center and the attack on the Pentagon--all within one hour on September 11, 2001--demonstrate America’s shocking vulnerability to terrorism. But the terrorists’ war against America actually started eight years earlier, when the mysterious terrorist mastermind Ramzi Yousef bombed the World Trade Center in an attempt to fell the buildings. His attacks were viewed as the harbinger of a new terrorism, carried out by an elusive enemy driven by religious fanaticism to unprecedented hatred of the United States. But is that perception accurate?

In Study of Revenge: The First World Trade Center Attack and Saddam Hussein's War against America, Laurie Mylroie argues that this "new terrorism," supposedly the work of "loose networks" of Muslim extremists, is nothing other than old-fashioned, state-sponsored terrorism in a new disguise. The author is the only person to plow through the copious evidence from the first attack on the World Trade Center and to combine that with information from the intelligence community and from personal interviews she has conducted. She gleans from her extensive research that Iraq has been working with and using Islamic extremists such as Osama bin Laden in its own ongoing war against America.

Mylroie chronicles how, time after time, the Clinton administration focused on the extremist freelancers and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice while it turned a blind eye to the evidence that Iraq was also involved. Her real-life detective story reveals the split between New York and Washington that emerged during the investigation and tells a terrifying tale of an America left exposed and vulnerable following the mishandling of the first attack on the World Trade Center, which was once the most ambitious terrorist attack attempted on U.S. soil.

Once again... Al Franken misses the entire fucking point. Hey, I know there's very little chance we'll find strong enough evidence to overturn this election. Where the majority of the fraud took place... the unauditable voting devices... astoundingly... there cannot BE any evidence. Why do Republicans resist giving these up for future elections? Any answer to that question other than FRAUD or CORRUPTION is so gullible as to be comedy.

Without the FBIs help (unlikely), the best we're going to be able to do this time around is to get enough Democrats angry to change the system. How can angry Democrats do that?

Well, those of us most angry are the very same ones who supported Kerry most fiercely with our dollars and our time. Repair the system or we withdraw! Al Franken and all the liberal bloggers who are ignoring us right now... WE ARE MANY and WE WILL NOT HELP WITH ANOTHER ELECTION UNTIL YOU JOIN US AND REPAIR THIS BROKEN ELECTION SYSTEM!

WE KNOW we can't change this outcome! WE WANT to fix the system! So take your irrelevant, mythical DIXIECRATS and shove them up your ass!

River, river carry me on
Living river carry me on
River, river carry me on
To the place where I come from

So deep, so wide, will you take me on your back for a ride
If I should fall, would you swallow me deep inside

River, show me how to float
I feel like I’m sinking down
Thought that I could get along
But here in this water
My feet won’t touch the ground
I need something to turn myself around

Going away, away towards the sea
River deep, can you lift up and carry me
Oh roll on though the heartland
’til the sun has left the sky
River, river carry me high
’til the washing of the water make it all alright
Let your waters reach me like she reached me tonight

Letting go, it’s so hard
The way it’s hurting now
To get this love untied
So tough to stay with thing
’cause if I follow through
I face what I denied
I get those hooks out of me
And I take out the hooks that I sunk deep in your side
Kill that fear of emptiness, loneliness I hide

River, oh river, river running deep
Bring me something that will let me get to sleep
In the washing of the water will you take it all away
Bring me something to take this pain away!!!!

At Any Cost:
How Al Gore Tried to Steal the Election
by Bill Sammon
Regnery Publishing, Inc.; ISBN: 0895262274
Hardcover - 256 pages (May 15, 2001)

NASHVILLE-It was late on election night, and Al Gore was furious. He wasn’t supposed to lose. So, in the wee hours, the signal was given… triggering the most outrageous attempt at political larceny in U.S. history.

Washington Times reporter Bill Sammon blows the lid off the biggest presidential election story ever, and tells all in At Any Cost: How Al Gore Tried to Steal the Election. It reveals never-before-published evidence of:

Gore votes being created out of thin air,
how determining the voters’ “intent” allowed re-counts to be distorted in Gore’s favor,
throwing out Bush votes-mainly from overseas military personnel-even as the Gore team called for “counting every vote,
inflaming racial tensions by inventing voter intimidation cases, and
forcing our democratic election process into the arena of lawyers and lawsuits.
At Any Cost reads like a political thriller. It exposes all the behind-the-scenes manipulation and courtroom maneuvering that turned Florida’s election upside down. At Any Cost reveals:

the ultra partisan rulings of the Florida Supreme Court,
the TV networks “calling” Florida for Gore before the polls had even closed,
the plot to blackmail GOP Electors, and
why Al Gore’s wholesale assault on our democratic process will poison the air in Washington for years to come.

Hegemony or Survival: America's Quest for Global Dominance (The American Empire Project)
by Noam Chomsky

From the world's foremost intellectual activist, an irrefutable analysis of America's pursuit of total domination and the catastrophic consequences that are sure to follow

The United States is in the process of staking out not just the globe but the last unarmed spot in our neighborhood-the heavens-as a militarized sphere of influence. Our earth and its skies are, for the Bush administration, the final frontiers of imperial control. In Hegemony or Survival , Noam Chomsky investigates how we came to this moment, what kind of peril we find ourselves in, and why our rulers are willing to jeopardize the future of our species.

With the striking logic that is his trademark, Chomsky dissects America's quest for global supremacy, tracking the U.S. government's aggressive pursuit of policies intended to achieve "full spectrum dominance" at any cost. He lays out vividly how the various strands of policy-the militarization of space, the ballistic-missile defense program, unilateralism, the dismantling of international agreements, and the response to the Iraqi crisis-cohere in a drive for hegemony that ultimately threatens our survival. In our era, he argues, empire is a recipe for an earthly wasteland.

Lucid, rigorous, and thoroughly documented, Hegemony or Survival promises to be Chomsky's most urgent and sweeping work in years, certain to spark widespread debate.

CHaiNEY PROTECTS RUMSFELD’S JOB UNTIL THE SPRING

White House Aides Want Him Out

By JAMIE DETTMER Staff Reporter of the Sun

WASHINGTON — Donald Rumsfeld is likely to remain at the Pentagon until the spring, enabling him to to stay in the administration through the Iraqi elections and advance his plans for transforming the American military, despite strong pressure from key White House political advisers for him to leave sooner.

According to well-placed Pentagon sources, emporor Vice President Chainey has argued the case for Mr. Rumsfeld to remain as defense secretary until at least the spring, and Mr. Chainey would prefer that Mr. Rumsfeld stayed longer.

Karl Rove and other White House asshats advisers, however, have maintained that Mr. Rumsfeld has become a political liability and will undermine possible improvement in relations between Washington and European allies, the sources said. “The White House political shop wants him out now,”a senior Defense Department source said of Mr. Rumsfeld.

Much will depend on what happens with the national security adviser,Condoleezza Rice. Administration officials told The New York Sun that Ms. Rice, who spearheaded the White House’s decision a year ago to take command from the Pentagon of the American occupation of Iraq, wants to replace Mr. Rumsfeld.

Mr. Chainey and Mr. Rumsfeld are old friends who served together in the Ford administration, and the vice president was instrumental in getting Mr. Rumsfeld appointed defense secretary in the first place.

The two have generally been allied in policy fights against Secretary of State Colin Powell, who, a Pentagon official says, may remain several months after Mr. Rumsfeld has departed. Earlier this week, when a reporter asked President Bush if he would like Mr. Powell to stay and lead new peace efforts in the Middle East, Mr. Bush replied: “I’m proud of my secretary of state. He’s done a heck of a good job.”

Amen! The Foundering Fathers did not intend for us top be a country of kweers with greased up buttholes all perfumed and saucy like bitches! They would vomit to think of dicks pumping in and out of lean firm athletic man-cheeks, the mouth or butt kind of cheeks, either one! They wer not men of gayety, they were proud Christians who stood up tall and strong for what they knew was gocly, and remained firm in their resolve. They did not waver, even when they were seen as hard and unyeilding by their friends and neighbors and enemies and livestock! All that sweaty faggotry was not for the men who led this country to being above all others all at once!

In 2003, Rev. Moon announced that the representatives of the five major religions -- as well as several dozen dead U.S. presidents communicating from the Spirit World -- declared him to be "the savior and messiah of humanity."

Perhaps you should study how many famous and well-respected homosexuals there have been in history.

You also may want to look closely at your friends.

Posted by: TTC at November 12, 2004 03:38 PM

And left a note at your bedside
I'm far too shy to speak to you at school
You leave me numb and I'm not sure why

I find it easier to sit and stare
Than push my limbs out towards you right there
My heart is bursting in your perfect eyes
As blue as oceans and as pure as skies

I struggle for the words and then give up
My heads up with the birds on the t-hut
A little piece of mind that I know better
That the plain disgrace of all my letters

After that the floodgates opened up
And I fell in love with everyone I saw
Please take your time I'm not in any rush
And it's in everything I ever write

It's not as if I need the extra weight
Confused enough by life so thanks a lot
Lonely written words for company

~~~ I like that Bev Harris FOIA action requested data from all over the US. We need some riled-up Republicans too. ~~~
Bev Harris qualifies more for TRUE AMERICAN HERO than anyone else in this country right now. Her entire book is available free online at
http://www.blackboxvoting.org/
Its fairly short and reads like a good crime novel... except Bev provides proof that everything she writes is true. There is NO EXCUSE for Kos or Atrios or Chris Bowers (MYDD) or Al Franken commenting on this issue until they have read Bev's book.
A condensed and very well written treatment of Bev's experiences can be found as a chapter in Anthony Lappé's (GNN) book "TRUE LIES".
If these people who are supposedly on our side read either of these, they would quickly discover why many of their readers and listeners are scrolling past all their present opinions on strategy. They're discussing suff that just isn't relevant to us...
We have to stop illegal immigrants from voting. We have to stop felons from voting. We need to have people register to vote in person in a government office with documents proving they have the right to vote (birth certificate Etc.) and have a photo on this card.
~~~ Fishgrease, I do agree with you, but voter fraud with the complicity of the administration is a good way to start impeachment proceedings. ~~~

Sure! I just want to make clear to the wimpier elements in the Democratic Party that our focus will not result in an all or nothing deal. Like I said... any solid proof (proof that would be enough for simpletons) might be long gone by now.

That... and if Bev DOES come up with proof good enough to boot Bush... we won't have to court all these wimpy Democrats then. You won't be able to beat them off with a stick! They'll want to take credit for as much as they possibly can!

The Patriot act has been around for decades. In the 70's it was called the Crime Omnibus bill then in the 80's it was called the Family bill. Each time it came up to congress they would shoot it down. But now we have a conservative slant in congress and after sept 11th they finally passed the pig.

Okay, I'll try to stick with a nic, but it hurts.

Divide and rule ... for now

Bush may have steamrollered his way back into the White House, but his re-election will further galvanise the resurgence of progressive opposition, writes US blogger Markos Moulitsas

Wednesday November 3, 2004

George Bush has dismayed half the US public and, I'm sure, much of the world by apparently winning the election.

The race is not technically over. Ohio is not only desperately close, with hundreds of thousands of uncounted ballots technically still able to swing the election back to Kerry, but the number of voting irregularities in the state are guaranteed to make it a centre of litigation.

The ONLY Answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paper ballots ONLY for national elections. These ballots are to be marked with a pen. These ballots are standard for the entire country. These ballots are counted by HUMANS (including Dems and Reps).... ONLY!

This is the only real solution.

Yes... the human counters can be corrupted but if they were corrupted in large enough numbers to make a difference... it COULDN'T stay hidden... and so would not be seriously considered.

Calif. Jury Finds Peterson Guilty of Killing Wife

3 minutes ago Top Stories - Reuters

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (Reuters) - After a trial that attracted nationwide attention, California fertilizer salesman Scott Peterson (news - web sites) was found guilty on Friday in the Christmas Eve 2002 first-degree murder of his pregnant wife and second-degree murder of his unborn child.

Peterson, 32, was charged with murdering Laci Peterson (news - web sites), who was eight month's pregnant at the time of her death. The bodies washed ashore in April 2003 along an area of the San Francisco Bay where Peterson said he was fishing the day Laci disappeared.

He could face the death penalty in the case, although sentencing will take place at a later date.

US states defy Bush over greenhouse gases
By Saeed Shah
12 November 2004

Individual American states are putting together a system to cap and trade greenhouse gas emissions, despite the Bush administration's opposition to the Kyoto protocol on global warming. Such a measure was backed by John Kerry during the recent election campaign.

The regional-level initiative, led by the Republican governor of New York, George Pataki, aims to be able to announce the details of a scheme by April next year. Nine north-eastern and mid-Atlantic states are taking part, with several other states and some Canadian provinces involved as "observers" in the process.

The scheme could even link up with the emissions controls and trading system being established by the EU next year, allowing emission allowances to be traded across the Atlantic. It is understood that informal talks have already taken place between environmental officials of the US states and their European Commission counterparts.

What if he REQUESTS lethal injection ASAP?

Would they do it? Has that ever happened?

Apocalypse Denial

By Mike Davis

Introduction by Tom Engelhardt

In a Mother Jones magazine essay, Over a Barrel, energy expert Paul Roberts, considering the near-impossibility of creating a sustainable-energy world in any reasonable span of time based only on market forces, speaks of an American "wall of energy denial" and of American consumers who "still share the [Bush] administration's energy obliviousness." He adds that "U.S. gasoline consumption continues to rise, despite high oil prices." Well, exactly. And we're talking about something closer to the Great Wall of China than a picket fence.

All I seen of those is that its not true (pure) fusion. They're using fission (dirty, nasty) to start the fusion reaction just like in a thermonuclear weapon. It has a few advantages over pure fission reactors, energy per waste and danger - wise, but they aren't the literal cure-all that pure fusion would be.

We can achieve pure fusion. It just needs lots of money thrown at it. The 200 billion we're spending in Iraq might just have done it... too!

Dear MoveOn member,

Questions are swirling around whether the election was conducted honestly or not. We need to know -- was it or wasn't it?

If people were wrongly prevented from voting, or if legitimate votes were mis-counted or not counted at all, we need to know so the wrongdoers can be held accountable, and so we can prevent this from happening again.

Members of Congress are demanding an investigation to answer this question. The decision on whether or not there will be an investigation could come as soon as Monday. Join us in supporting the call for one now, at:

Not only are they disappointed with Bush re-election, they are very concerned about Global Warming and the now GIANT economic power of China. She said 60% to 70% of goods sold in Europe are made in China. Looks like Americans are going to get slapped in the rear where least expected. The goody do-gooder Jesus freaks aren't going to stop the flow of events that will sweep over civilization as we know it. They'll just mess up their pants and we'll have a lot of laundry to do. Religious right BLASTS Mary Cheney's "flaunting" of her homosexuality
by John in DC - 11/12/2004 03:16:08 PM

Oh yeah. Let the meltdown begin. It was only a matter of time before the religious right took on the First Dyke (or second dyke?) I sincerely hope we're going to hear loud and public outrage from the White House and the Cheney family about this outrageous, mean-spirited, willing-to-do-anything attack on their tender young daughter.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer girl.

From the religious right propaganda organ AgapePress:

...A Virginia pro-family advocate says the people who helped re-elect President Bush don't support homosexual relationships -- the administration apparently does. Joe Glover, president of the Family Policy Network, has worked tirelessly for family values, including the fight against legalized homosexual "marriage." He says it was
conservative Christians who put the president back in office and who held to the belief that the president shared their views. But Glover
says the day after the election, that all seemed to go out the window.
"The day after George Bush was elected president again, because of this morals revolution taking place in our country, he allows his vice
president to not only put his lesbian daughter on the platform, but to bring her lesbian 'partner' up on the stage with him," Glover says. "It almost seems to be a slap in the face from the get-go against the very conservatives that re-elected the president at a time when he
ought to paying them some homage and respect." Glover says the Cheney daughter's open flaunting of her homosexuality is the antithesis of
what the administration claims to stand for -- and that the post-election display sends a mixed message to Bush supporters.

Which makes it more obvious than ever, that point by Mr. Vidal about needing another Constitutional Convention, is absolutely correct and way, way overdue...

A Jeannette woman who was slightly injured after being struck by a train while walking along railroad tracks sued Norfolk Southern Corp. Thursday for failing to warn pedestrians that trains travel on tracks.
Patricia M. Frankhouser, of 910 Scott Ave., is seeking an unspecified amount in excess of $30,000 from the Norfolk, Va., rail transport company for the Jan. 6 incident that left her with a broken finger, cuts on her hand and pain, according to the suit.

I wrote a term paper about it many years ago. The people will always rise up. It doesn't take many of us to stir things up. Once people catch on, there is no smoke screen. Smoke 'em out, I say!

Pope Decries 'Grave Crisis' of Values

By FRANCES D'EMILIO, Associated Press Writer
Fri. Nov. 12, 2004 12:30 PM ET

ROME - Pope John Paul II praised Portugal's visiting president Friday for his nation's conservative Catholicism, saying it could inspire hope amid a "grave crisis" in modern values.

The pope also condemned euthanasia in a separate meeting with doctors, the second attack on the practice by the Vatican (news - web sites) this week.

Mostly Roman Catholic Portugal has some of Europe's strictest abortion laws, totally banning the procedure after 12 weeks of pregnancy and sharply limiting when it is permitted in earlier weeks.

Portugal has a special place in the pope's heart. He visited the Fatima, Portugal, shrine, after his recovery from gunshot wounds inflicted by a Turkish gunmen in St. Peter's Square in 1981.

The May 13, 1981, attack coincided with the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima, and John Paul credits the Virgin Mary's intercession for his survival. In 2000, he visited Fatima to beatify two of the three shepherd children who said the Virgin Mary appeared to them. The third child, now an elderly nun, lives in Portugal.

"The special light that shone in their lives wants to illuminate the world," the pontiff said.

"The world continues to look to Portugal with hope, especially in terms of becoming aware of the grave crisis of values in modern society, ever more insecure in the face of fundamental ethical decisions for the future path of humanity," the pope told visiting President Jorge Sampaio at the Vatican.

Ashcroft says judges threaten national security by questioning Bush decisions

Friday, November 12, 2004

BY CURT ANDERSON
ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON - Federal judges are jeopardizing national security by issuing rulings contradictory to President Bush's decisions on America's obligations under international treaties and agreements, Attorney General John Ashcroft said Friday.

In his first remarks since his resignation was announced Tuesday, Ashcroft forcefully denounced what he called "a profoundly disturbing trend" among some judges to interfere in the president's constitutional authority to make decisions during war.

It has been a beautiful year. We won the war in Afghanistan. We are winning the war in Iraq. We won the presidency. We won the Senate. We won the House of Representatives. We won the Supreme Court. All that's left this year is a good Turkey dinner on Thanksgiving and opening the Christmas presents. We should all sing "God bless America"

Buh-bye, Netherlanders...oh, don't forget the Poles, too! Tony Blair is operating with a 65% disapproval rating on Iraq....hmmmm? Pretty soon it'll be the star-n-stripes & Pago-Pago doin' the house-to-house two-step in Fallujah.

The Shrub screams, "We don't need no stinkin' draft!"

A Jeannette woman who was slightly injured after being struck by a train while walking along railroad tracks sued Norfolk Southern Corp. Thursday for failing to warn pedestrians that trains travel on tracks.

tort reform, anyone?
I'm reminded of the pregnant woman who drank a fifth of Jim Beam a day when she was pregnanat and sued the distillery.

So stupidity is pretected but malfeasance gets a pass.

Liberation

Silent woman in the night, you came,
Took my seed from my shaking frame.
Same old fire, another flame,
And the wheel rolls on.

Silent woman through the flames, you come,
From the deep behind the sun
Seems my nightmares, have just begun
Left me barely holding on.

With blazing eyes you see my trembling hand.
When we know the time has come
Lose my senses, lose command
Feel your healing rivers run

Is it every time I fall,
That I think this is the one
In the darkness can you hear me call
Another day has just begun.

Silent woman, my face is changed
Some know in ways to come.
Feel my fire needs a brand new flame
And the wheels rolls on.... rolls on.
