Because all congressional candidates could use the money, Clarkies (erm, that'd be Wes Clark supporters) are trying to help Richard Morrison see his goal of raising $20,000 by the end of the week. So far he's raised $7,000.
Morrison is the Democrat running in Tom Delay's Congressional district. With Delay's current legal troubles, he is looking vulnerable.
http://www.richardmorrisonfordistrict22.com/
So we can all keep track of the fundraising progress tonight, if you make a donation, please post the amount to this blog, or come over to http://www.forclark.com and post the amount to our general (*heh*) discussion thread. You don't have to register to post at forclark.com. Just please help us track the progress.

Posted by: terry wilke at April 29, 2004 10:09 PM
counterpunch has some info about the book on their site
The Sellouts in the Fourth Estate
French journalists Jean-Charles Brisard and Guillaume Dasquie, the book's first French language publication in Europe caused a major furor. But it was not with the French government or its friends in the media. The angst was among members of the Bin Laden family -- the so-called "good bin Ladens" and those who have done business in the past with George W. Bush and his father. Yeslam bin Laden, one of the "good" bin Ladens in Switzerland sued the authors for the information they provided on the bin Laden family's past business dealings. The suit went no where because the authors had absolute proof that not everything the bin Ladens have done in finance and business has been on the up and up.
But now, some self-appointed media spokespeople in Washington have taken up the cause that the bin Ladens wisely decided to drop. They have criticized Forbidden Truth without having read it or only having read snippets from it. It would appear that they have taken their cue from a White House family, who, like the bin Ladens, seem to have an awful lot to hide. The book has also been criticized for being unsourced when, in fact, it has over 500 footnotes. Footnoting and providing references is a practice that some of Washington penultimate journalistic insiders, including Bob Woodward of The Washington Post, should adopt in their own future docu-novels concerning administration cover-ups and malfeasance.
Brisard and Dasquie provide concrete evidence how this same self-serving approach to business permitted the Taliban to negotiate with senior members of the Bush administration on a lucrative pipeline deal just weeks prior to the al Qaeda terrorists slamming commercial jetliners into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon. It's the same mind set that in 1990 convinced U.S. ambassador to Iraq April Glaspie to tell Sadaam Hussein that the Bush I administration had no interest in his inter-Arab border dispute involving Kuwait. We now all know why the Bush family had no great interest in that "minor" dispute. They made a fortune from it, along with then Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, whose Halliburton company helped rebuild the oil infrastructures of both Kuwait and Iraq.
And now we have some of the same players standing to make a fortune from a trans-Asian CentGas pipeline that will extend from Turkemenistan, through Afghanistan, to Pakistan's Indian Ocean port of Gwadar. Dubya's, Cheney's, and Condoleezza Rice's Big Oil friends at Unocal, Halliburton, Chevron, and Saudi Arabia's Delta Oil all stand to make a handsome profit from the CentGas deal. Enron, in concert with Bush's Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, actually developed the feasibility study for the pipeline. And current Secretary of the Army, Thomas White, who now influences U.S. military policy in Afghanistan, was a Vice President of Enron in charge of such "special deals." So its little wonder we are told in Forbidden Truth that representatives of the Bush administration told the representatives of the Taliban in Berlin in July 2001 that they would be faced with a "carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs." Its so arch-typical Bush.

I am an intern with John Kerry for President, and I wanted to comment on the person who just said that Kerry isn't attacking enough. We have been deluged with calls, approximately half of which tell us that the Senator needs to be more aggressive, and the other half begging us to keep it positive and stay above that. People are very divided on how they want Kerry to go.
Posted by: Intern at April 29, 2004 10:12 PM
If 9/11 was a response to hard ball tactics from Enron, Cheney's hiding out in his undisclosed location for so long suddenly makes sense (and no other explanation does). He must have thought they were coming for his scalp!
And ENOUGH with calling educated people "elitist." Elites are people with money and power. Snobs, maybe, but not elitist.
Posted by: Liberel at April 29, 2004 10:12 PM
Hi,
There is an important point that I would like to bring up while the 9/11 commission is still questioning members of the Bush Administration. General Mahoud Ahmad (head of the Pakistani I.S.I. during 9/11) authorized a $100,000 wire transfer to Mohamed Atta (the alleged ringleader of the terrorist hijackers). This same man, Mahmoud Ahmad, was on an official visit to Washington from Sept. 4-13, 2001 where he met with Colin Powell, Richard Armitage, and George Tenet. I believe that the 9/11 commission should at least ask what they were doing with a man who helped fund the 9/11 attacks. It certainly seems relevant.

Also... prof. Cole said al-Sistani favored democratic elections... not quite. He "agreed" to democratic elections until Bremer insisted that they be caucus based. In other words, Bremer wanted non-national non-one-person-one-vote elections. Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani said no. Its still up in the air. I'd like to see them try to do anything besides exactly what Sistani wants.
Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani didn't suggest elections and would much rather appoint his government, but agreed to elections, basically, to get rid of us. The Ayatollah isn't that bad of a fellow and we're making a mistake by not trying to make him happy.
It's HIS country!

No, Sam, the Bush administration did not give the Taliban $43 mil. It went to the UN and various NGOs working in Afghanistan.
I believe Robert Scheer at the LA Times was the original source of the Taliban assertion.
It was debunked by Dan Kennedy, media critic for the Boston Phoenix, and definitely not a GOP tool.

Hi,
There is an important point that I would like to bring up while the 9/11 commission is still questioning members of the Bush Administration.

Kerry should never play defense
When he is attacked, he should attack back. These are ridiculous charges from cowards and draft dodgers, that's all he needs to say about it.
He needs to talk about leading this country the way he led soldiers into battle, against a mighty enemy that threatens the foundations of democracy

But she's not a pathological liar.
Pathological liars do not distinguish truth from the lies they tell. The minute it is uttered, it becomes instant truth for them.
Hughes knows she's lying.
Probably like Linda Tripp, she's pulled off criminal frauds.

It's funny you mentioned the off-mic comments. The day after that we got hundreds of calls from Dean, Kucinich, and Nader supporters saying "this is the first time we have liked Kerry!" I think that one comment garnered us quite a few votes.
Has anyone noticed that he does go after these guys... the media just doesnt mention it. He just blasted Bush and Cheney both on their military service and the papers just shrugged it off.

I thought the professor's recollections were hilarious -reminded me of the interviews in Woody Allen's "Take the Money and Run." Unfortunately -not fiction in this case.
I like J's references to narcissistic personality pathologies. There needs to be more examination of this aspect of social pathologies. That and simply primitive levels of cognition, are among the prime causes for the dark aspects of collective behavior -like stupid wars. If she has not done so already, I would highly recommend brushing up on the diagnostic criteria for personality disorders then extrapolate to social movements/behaviors –just as a beginning. I think she is smart enough and can think well and would be able to discern a lot of connections in that area.
I don't buy the idea that Bush is really smart underneath his shallow persona and his aphasia.. He has the savvy of a predator perhaps, but that does not equate to being aware and intelligent. It’s the afore mentioned sociopathic narcissism that drives people like him to powerful positions. It is a sick ambition; not intelligence. The guy is a troglodyte and again, certainly a sociopath –but then saying a politician is sociopathic is like saying water is wet.

It is becoming increasingly clear that if Al Gore had been put into office rightfully, after being elected... that 9/11 would most likely not ever have happened.
If all those Clinton administration officials had been allowed to stay put (and doubtless most of them would have stayed the same, in a Gore administration) - and allowed to continue doing the much better job they were doing on terrorism, and if they had had people to report up to who actually LISTENED TO THEM AND ACTED ON THAT INGELLIGENCE!!!!
Then as I said, 9/11 likely would not have even happened.
So my outrage about Florida '00 has SKYROCKETED, 3,000 people in New York dead who didn't have to die... 700+ soldiers dead in Iraq who didn't have to die... thousands of Iraqis, Afghanis... etc etc etc
All those people would be alive right now, going about their lives...
The shadey stuff that went on in Florida with Harris and Jeb, have had enormous reprecussions.
The republicans will spill ANY amount of blood in the name of their mindless greed.

To everyone commenting on John Kerry not responding to attacks by the Republicans.
The Republicans are trying to get John Kerry and empty his coffers by responding with commercials. That is the worst thing he can do right now. There is way too much time between now and November. If he responded every time the Republicans say something about him he will not have any money left by the time he gets to November. When what you say really counts. What he should do is get him one-on-one in a debate. George W. Bush is intellectually challenged and is incapable of a true debate.

christian extremists funding electronic voting systems, GOP, and Bush campaign...
Sequoia hasn't been mentioned as much a Diebold and ES&S... although I thought the link to the Carlyle group might interest Janeane.
"In Louisiana, 22 election officials were indicted and 9 charged with taking bribes and kickbacks totaling $8 million dollars from then Sequoia salesman Phil Foster--who also testified against their Election Commissioner ,Jerry Fowler for immunity. All charges against Foster were dropped and he was promoted to Vice President of Sequoia Pacific. Sequoia Pacific was recently acquired by De LaRue, British owned company that is a member of the Carlyle Group."
http://www.fairelections.us/article.php?id=104
The Ahmanson family (frightening people) provided funding ES&S and George Bush's campaign. Here is some of what they're about.
"Ahmanson is also one of the bagmen behind the extremist "Christian
Reconstructionist" movement, which openly advocates a theocratic takeover
of American democracy, placing the entire society under the "dominion" of
"Christ the King". This "dominion" includes the death penalty for
homosexuals, exclusion of citizenship for non-Christians, stoning of
sinners and — we kid you not — slavery, "one of the most beneficent of
Biblical laws".
Ahmanson also has major holdings in ES&S, whose former CEO is Republican Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska. When Hagel ran for office, his own company counted the votes; needless to say, his initial victory was reported as "an amazing upset." Hagel still has a million-dollar stake in the parent company of ES&S. In Florida, Jeb Bush's first choice for a running mate in his 1998 gubernatorial race was ES&S lobbyist Sandra Mortham, who made a mint installing the machines that counted Jeb's votes."
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article4801.htm
This is from a Salon.com article about the Ahmanson's:
"Ahmanson's money has made possible some of the most pivotal conservative movements in America's recent history, including the 1994 GOP takeover of the California Legislature, a ban on gay marriage and affirmative action in California, and the mounting nationwide campaign to prove Darwin wrong about evolution. His financial influence also helped propel the recent campaign to recall California Gov. Gray Davis."

NYC Denies Permit for Huge Anti-War Rally
NEW YORK - An anti-war group planning a massive demonstration at the start of the Republican National Convention has been denied a permit to use Central Park because the crowd would be too large.
United for Peace and Justice said it planned to appeal.
The city parks department denied the group's request to rally on the park's Great Lawn after marching from 23rd Street and Eighth Avenue. A permit request for the march, submitted separately to the police department, is pending.
In denying the permit, city officials said the Aug. 29 event would exceed the 13-acre lawn's capacity of 80,000 people and "cause enormous damage to the lawn." The group said on its application that it expected 250,000 demonstrators.
"Now we just have to do another piece of organizing, to put pressure on the city to change their mind," said group leader Leslie Cagan.
In its appeal, the group plans to state that numerous events with more than 80,000 people have taken place on the lawn, including a 1981 Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel concert that drew at least 400,000 fans and a 1982 anti-nuclear demonstration attended by more than 750,000 people, considered the largest protest in city history.
The Department of Parks and Recreation maintains that no gatherings of that magnitude have been held on the Great Lawn since the area was restored in 1996.
Parks department spokeswoman Megan Sheekey said the city has offered to help the group find another location.
United for Peace and Justice, which organized a February 2003 anti-war rally that drew tens of thousands of people to a 20-block stretch of First Avenue, said it hadn't ruled out pursuing the matter in court.
Another group denied a parks permit during the convention also is considering legal action.
Led by activist Aron Kay, who made a name for himself by throwing pies at public officials, the group last month sought permission to set up a 20,000-person camp for various activities in Tompkins Square Park from Aug. 27 to Sept. 12.
Sheekey said the request was denied because parks close at 1 a.m. and "a neighborhood park can't accommodate an event of that size."
Separately, a coalition of unions representing police officers and firefighters has requested permits to demonstrate during the four-day convention, beginning Aug. 30. Union members claim they are underpaid compared to their counterparts in other cities and are underfunded for fighting terrorism — complaints they plan to voice when Republican come to town.

Janeane and Sam,
What makes Randi Rhodes so awsome is that she does the research. There are two of you hosting your show. Here is an idea: split the research. If you are covering four topics; one for each hour, split the research two and two. That way one of you will have all the info at your fingertips during an interview. Devote AT LEAST an hour of research for each on-air hour. I am still stunned that Sam thought Osama Bin Laden, a SAUDI, was a Shiite!
The stakes are too high guys; know from whence you speak. You have a lot of potential and I've always been a big fan of J.G.'s.
Best,
Jim

What I would like to know about the voting is how come you can't have a receipt that you can take with you. With a corresponding barcode or something like that so it matches with your vote.
They should not even be using the voting software and hardware that is not checked out for one complete voting cycle that is four years before you can use it.

I believe that Australia has electronic voting, but the source code is open source and freely available, so that anyone who wanted to could download and examine the source code and prove to themselves that the code is secure. Then I read something about a month ago about an open source electronic voting project in the U.S. that was gaining steam. Now I'm Googling for "open source electronic voting", but haven't found it yet. Anyone know what that was?
And really, for something this important, should we accept anything less than this? Why should we trust the essence of our democratic government to a private company?

We need a nickname for Karen Hughes.
Janeane said and repeated that "Karen Hughes is good." (i.e., a good liar).
But rather than just calling her "good" and "a liar" in the mold of Lee Atwater, we need to peg her.
She is "Ms. Disingenuity."
Like "Miss Uncongeniality."
Karen Hughes is the very embodiment of disingenuousness.
If you don't know what the word "disingenuous" means, Karen Hughes is exactly what that word refers to.
She is the "epitomy of insincerity."
She raises insincerity to the level of an art form.

Re: advertising
All new broadcast networks go through months at cash flow negative, while they develop their audiences, ratings, and advertising placements.
When they get their 23 markets, and return to LA and Chicago, the ratings will be solid. I leave the stream up 24:7 so hopefully that will help a little.
I do sometimes cringe a bit when the hosts make comments that could, out of context, be taken to belittle terrorism, be a bit too sympathetic to the Iraqi resistance, or like just recently, when Jeaneane made fairly broad comments re: Bush's brand of Christianity. Some of these issues, in the current climate, call for a bit more surgical attack that wouldn't alienate more mainstream advertisers.
The goal is to remain on target, but still be a "safe" ad buy for the Hondas and Universal Studios etc. of the world.

just watched "the jesus factor."
perhaps the most frightening piece of journalism i've seen in my adult life as an american who grew up thinking that we were a country founded on ideals of tolerance, of justice, of always moving forward in the cause of civil rights.
the abounding message that comes through from the piece is that bush and his conservative christian administration and his evangelical followers believe that the constitution is a wonderful founding document, but that it is merely a "stage two" embodiment of the country's real founding document, namely the bible.
and what's truly scary is that they don't view the bible and their particular interpretation of it as one of many competing views and principles worthy of pursuing in this great nation. no. for george and his supporters, their interpretations are the ONLY principles to be pursued.
rule of law versus rule of men? can be trumped. civil rights and due process of law for all citizens? can be trumped. tolerance for diverse and differing views and religions? can be trumped.
it's this evangelical, "god speaks to me and my ultimate duty is to the laws of god, not men (i.e. the constitution or other federal, state, county or city laws)" is what allows them to feel no qualms and even moral righteous in killing "evil doer" doctors who perform abortions, or executing "evil doer" criminals despite testimonial and increasingly scientific dna evidence that suggest that they may indeed be innocent, etc., etc.
i can't say that the piece comes as a total shock to me -- his entire presidency has been consistent with these wacked out "god complex" beliefs. it's just shocking as to how very much the piece confirmed my worst fears.
and i guess from viewing the piece that not only is god american, he's rich and white and male and occassionally fulfills his "help those less fortunate than thou" duty by appearing with minorities in white southern christian drug treatment programs.
i already had seen enough, and definitely need see no more now.
these guys have to be knocked out of office in november and it's going to be close. the evangelical numbers are real and the culture war is real. we have more than them but if we don't get out our vote, it won't matter.
we can't afford that.
spread the word loud and far. this election matters as much as anything in our lifetimes. no joke.

A problem with absentee ballots in some places is that those ballots aren't counted unless the difference in vote totals between candidates (in "regularly cast" votes) is within a certain percentage. That is to say, if Candidate X wins by, say, 5% in the regular vote count, they might not even begin counting the absentee ballots, regardless of how many of them there are. The 5% difference results in a presumptive winner, by a margin that is large enough that doesn't trigger a count of absentee ballots. Voters need to consider the laws on counting absentee ballots in their states before using that method en masse.

Guys,
I have no idea what our state and local governments are paying (probably 100 times what they should be for the diebolt systems) but it would be very, very, very easy to provide a unique randomly generated number on each paper ballot and let people take them home just like lottery tickets. I mean, they do it for lottery right? You could print all of the numbers on a report and people could return and see the voucher numbers on the report and verify their vote. It would be totally private and 100% verifiable by the person who placed the vote. It would make voting confidence go through the roof and it is SOOOO doable and easy.
I'll write the code myself. Not in windows. And I would have independent auditors and public testing made available. IT's SOOO Easy that the fact they are not doing it is so very very very suspicious.

One thing that is sad is that the right wing has such utter contempt for liberals that they are doing the most outrageous things in our face.
It is as if they are deliberately trying to find ways to insult us.
Then, when we discover their insulting acts, all we do is say they are corrupt and doing wrong.
What we aren't doing is realizing that they are actually doing it on purpose. Actually finding more and more ways to antagonize us on the left.
They are deliberately breaking the rules. They are not even trying to appear to be doing it according to the books.
In other words, they are trying to fuck us up. That's how sadistic the right wingers are. We shouldn't give them the slightest benefit of the doubt. They are purely out for the jugular, and there isn't a kind bone in their bodies. They are out to annihilate us, people!

Hi,
There is an important point that I would like to bring up while the 9/11 commission is still questioning members of the Bush Administration.

Hi,
There is an important point that I would like to bring up while the 9/11 commission is still questioning members of the Bush Administration. Did anyone catch the story behind the photos that were on 60 Minutes II? It is even more revealing...
Summary and background of story on 60 Minutes II -
Last month, the U.S. Army announced 17 soldiers in Iraq, including a brigadier general, had been removed from duty after charges of mistreating Iraqi prisoners.
It turns out photographs surfaced showing American soldiers abusing and humiliating Iraqis being held at a prison near Baghdad. According to the U.S. Army, one Iraqi prisoner was told to stand on a box with his head covered, wires attached to his hands. He was told that if he fell off the box, he would be electrocuted. This is only example.
The Army investigated, and issued a scathing report. Now, an Army general and her command staff may face the end of long military careers. And six soldiers are facing court martial in Iraq -- and possible prison time.
HOWEVER...
two weeks ago, 60 Minutes II received an appeal from the Defense Department, and eventually from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Richard Myers, to DELAY THE BROADCAST -- given the danger and tension on the ground in Iraq.
60 Minutes II honored that request. This week, with the photos beginning to circulate elsewhere, and with other journalists about to publish their versions of the story, the Defense Department agreed to cooperate with 60 Minutes II.
It makes one think of the role of the media. Also, do you recall what was happening a couple of weeks ago?

as i said in an earlier post on the piece, this election is going to be a bare-knuckled brawl wholly, wholly dependent on getting the vote out.

BUSH'S GRANDFATHER A NAZI---- This act by the U.S. government made it clear that Prescott Bush and the other directors of the Union Banking Corp. were in essence front men for the Nazis. By keeping news of this seizure quiet, the American government avoided the more important issue: in what way were Hitler and his Nazi cohorts set up, armed, and supported by the New York and London cartel of which Prescott Bush was an executive manager?
On Oct. 28, the government issued orders seizing two Nazi front organizations run by the Bush-Harriman bank: the Holland-American Trading Corporation and the Seamless Steel Equipment Corporation.
Nazi interests in the Silesian-American Corporation, long managed by Prescott Bush and his father-in-law, George Herbert Walker, were seized under the Trading with the Enemy Act on November 17, 1942. In this action, the government announced that it was seizing only the Nazi interests, leaving the Nazis' U.S. partners to carry on the business.
These were actions taken by the U.S. government during wartime, but Prescott Bush and his collaborators had already played a central role in financing and arming Adolf Hitler for his takeover of Germany. Harriman, Bush and the others in the cabal had financed the buildup of Nazi war industries for the conquest of Europe and war against the U.S.A. They had also helped in the development of Nazi genocide theories and racial propaganda, with the slave labor and extermination camps as the result.

Ten more soldiers! Why are both Democrats and Republicans still saying we can't just get out of Iraq? Lots of silly, meaningless semantics. We're holding out to create the illusion of a democracy in a place where Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani IS the government now, and will be no matter what we do. Read THE FISHGREASE MANIFESTO (or... This is apropos of the Diebold clip.
I think I have discerned one reason why all the people who want electronic voting with no paper trail keep saying things THAT ARE DEMONSTRABLY UNTRUE. They have reasons for supporting it that they basically feel people they're talking to cannot GRASP, so they kind of simplify and hand-wave to the point of outright falsehood.
My perspective is this: I'm not a dummy or a Luddite. In fact, I studied math and physics in grad school, and I'm a pretty good hacker, too - I was part of a tiny group that at one time completely owned all the branches of my state's university. I've made my living, among other things, doing scientific and technical journalism and computer programming. I've assisted political campaigns with voter analysis and data mining. Very few of these people who talk down to us (perhaps accidentally) impress me at all with their pretentious expertise.
But even if they were more impressive, that's not sufficient. When I was a senior a youngster came in - I'd had the highest math scores to date at my uni till then but he had perfect scores in everything. More to the point, later when he took his specialized Subject GRE in Math, he got a perfect score. That test is both broad and deep, and without a reasonable amount of math training, most college students won't even get one of the hundred or so questions right, he was, I think, one of a half dozen people in the country capable of doing that, and he has continued on in cryptanalysis and security. So I would trust his expertise implicitly - but there's another problem - he's a very, very distant person, quite disconnected from most people's passions and concerns - something he'd consider a trivial problem would deeply bother me. So the people wanting black box voting, I think, would have to both be people whose expertise I trusted AND people who I thought gave a damn, AND weren't bought off, and those are somewhat rare.

Posted by: Taylor in Santa Cruz CA at April 29, 2004 11:06 PM
Taylor, it must be a manual operation to put the post show blog up. Sometimes it happens late. Sometimes it doesn't happen.
Posted by: Fishgrease at April 29, 2004 11:08 PM
post show blog sometimes takes a while to come up. Give it 10 minutes.

Sam, MR co-host, found tied in the closet, left overnite by an unknown assailant. Sam half consciously keeps mumbling.... 'no more sound clip, ... no more sound clip'

TAYLOR, do you listen to FRSC?
Posted by: scooter from KPFT HouTX at April 29, 2004 11:14 PM
ben & jerry ice cream's expensive but I patronize it.
Digdin, I'm from Sacramento too, and I'm stuck in my room the whole day listening to AAR. What do you think of SacBee ? They did put out a cartoon showing Al O' Fr. holding a bounced check.
INTERN, please advise Mr. Kerry to be more aggressive and assertive. It's sooooooooooo frustrating !
JG and Sam, the media has always been the most powerful tool of an authoritarian regime... been there, done that, bought the shirt ( a yellow one that says DOWN WITH MARCOS ! ! )

Huh, just heard a commercial on airamericaradio for a book called, "Run the Other Way".
Also just listened to another show about what a simpleton Bush is. Gosh, I'll bet our boy President thinks there's a difference between dems and pubs.
A non redneck face in office will not cool the embers of all those inner Archie Bunkers. Only a clear break from the chinese finger trap of dems vs pubs melodramatics will do that.

Ahh, God, I just want to take this moment to say that the Daily Show with John Stewart is why aliens don't kick the Earth into the Sun as part of galactic gentrification.

The part of the show with Brockley was appalling. Chickens are not bred to be happy crammed into cages so they can't move, and sitting in their own shit, with no veterinary care. They do pump them full of chemicals so it is difficult for them to walk and so their feet crack under the pressure because they're top heavy.
His are the words of a slaveholder describing slaves too dumb to feel or care over their misery and enslavement. This was shameful. Part of what we're doing in getting Bush out of the White House is attempting to transform the world into a truly more compassionate one. Brockley is as backwards in his thinking and compassion as the Bush gang is.
Go take a look at a factory farmed animal. They are our equals in terms of feelings, if not intelligence. And chickens are not dumb animals, they have a large range of expressions and communications, although we treat them like inanimate objects. All creatures desire the freedom to move, to live, to mate, to enjoy the sun. Brockley can't see that in his selfishness, but I hope that others will.

watched Frontline. There's nothing new there. In fact, if I were a first time voter, without any party affiliation, I'd think Bush must be a good and kind man. The show is sympathetic to Bush. Just my opinion. I should have watched Kings - Mavs game instead.

Oh my god, that was totally worth it. I had this rising anxiety about how difficult this was to listen to. Then when it was turned off and J&S said it wasn't working it was a wonderful dramatic turn - the suspenseful climax - the bomb's explosion averted.
